Take Flight with Free Admission this Saturday, May 18 as we celebrate International Museum Day at Lopez Museum & Library!

It’s halfway through National Heritage Month and take stock in the masterpieces of great Filipino Masters juxtaposed with contemporary artists in our ongoing exhibit GROUNDED.

GROUNDED: Dealing with the position of the museum as a cultural institution, the exhibition examines its relationship with different localities as it makes its way from Pasay, Pasig, and eventually to Makati. The exhibit focuses on waterscapes and features artworks from the museum’s permanent collection, along new works by invited artists Ahmed El Shaer, Khaled Hafez, Barbara Hlali, Toym Imao, Josephine Turalba, Goldie Poblador, Alma Quinto and Eric Zamuco.

100,000 Stars is an interactive visualization of the stellar neighborhood created for the Google Chrome web browser. It shows the location of 119,617 nearby stars derived from multiple sources, including the 1989 Hipparcos mission. Zooming in reveals 87 individually identified stars and our solar system. The galaxy view is an artist’s rendition based on NGC 1232, a spiral galaxy like the Milky Way.

How do you say goodbye to a book?

This rare German Flaggenbuch of the Nazi Period has been in my ‘care’ for almost close to 8 years. An invaluable reference to my study of vexillology and heraldry.

Now we have to part ways for the owner has sent its summons Huginn and Muninn; Geri and Freki. I love this book notwithstanding its provenance/publication.

My cousin who is a fantasy and RPG geek challenged me to create a sigil for our family, House Ambata.

Ambata is a Celto-Iberian anthroponym in the Lusitanian-Galician area.

This thin, glittering streak of stars seen in this space wallpaper is the spiral galaxy ESO 121-6, which lies in the southern constellation of Pictor (The Painter’s Easel). Viewed almost exactly side-on, the intricate structure of the swirling arms is hidden, but the full length of the galaxy can be seen — including the intense glow from the central bulge, a dense region of tightly packed young stars sitting at the center of the spiral arms. Tendrils of dark dust can be seen across the frame, partially obscuring the bright center of the galaxy and continuing out towards the smattering of stars at its edges, where the dust lanes and shapes melt into the inky background.

Adaptations of Da Vinci as maker + hero type in comics and video games have been done to death not to mention in Ancient Aliens conspiracy but ‘genius don’t die’, it would smile at you with drag face ‘painted the house down’ in perpetual enigma (in the Louvre) haha! I am stoked.
